My husband and I adopted a rescue beagle from Puerto Rico. People may say we saved her, but she was the one who saved us, and was a perfect addition to the family. Sadly, two days before our wedding, she passed away. We were completely heartbroken. We were not yet ready for another dog of our own, but needed a way to fill the void in our lives. We then began to volunteer at the animal shelter walking the dogs. We got to interact with many fantastic dogs and nothing was better than seeing their wagging tails after a long day at work. After about 6 months, Ellie arrived at the animal shelter. It was love at first sight. We have had her 3 years now and although she can never replace the dog we lost, she completes our family.
