At 6 months of age, Davey ended up on the kill list at a pound in Kansas. Luckily, a no-kill rescue stepped in and saved him just in time! But he sat at that shelter for 6 more months being overlooked. I began volunteering at that shelter and wanted to adopt a big, old dog. But this wire haired mutt with no manners picked me and wanted no one else. After a couple weeks, I relented and he proudly strutted out of that shelter in April 2010 and into my heart. He's my little buddy and the reason I am now a radical adoption advocate!
