After careful thought and research, my husband and I knew that we wanted to add a toy poodle to our family. After seeing Peppermint Patty's picture online, I was completely in love. She is a rare color of poodle called "phantom," which is my favorite color of poodle. There was something about Patty's sweet look and captivating beauty that made me feel like she was my dog, so we drove to LA to meet her. At the adoption event, Patty was very distracted and clearly untrained. She pulled on the leash, ignored commands, and jumped and barked at other dogs. We were concerned about whether or not we could handle such a little spitfire! My husband picked up a ball and squeaked it, and Patty immediately focused on him and calmed down. Using this tool, we worked with her and found that she was intelligent and very trainable. We have been throwing the ball for her on the beach every day since. She is an ambassador for amazingly cute adoptable dogs, and what a little training and exercise can do!
