Eddie Rickenbacker was rescued in November 2012. He was due at the shelter at the time when Superstorm Sandy hit the New Jersey area. Thousands of people were without electricity due to the storm, including the shelter. Eleventh Hour called upon their volunteers to see if anyone could foster the dogs until they were up and running. Our in laws decided to take in two, Lugnut and Dipstick (Eddie). Weighing in at a measly 9lbs, the puppies were 8 weeks old and were starved, weak and sick. Over the course of two weeks, we gave them the food and love that they needed. At that time Eleventh Hour held an adoption event. We said our tearful goodbyes and sent them down to the event to be adopted. Within 20 minutes we realized we couldn't be without Eddie and raced down there to put in our paperwork. He was officially ours and found a forever home. A family friend adopted his sister, now Lucy, and everyone lived happily ever after!
