From a picture, it is hard to imagine that Dexter was on his fourth home before he had even turned a year old. However, with severe acid reflux, home after home turned him over to someone new to "deal with" his throwing up. The stress of moving only exacerbated the problem. By the time he got to a place that he found his furever roommate, it was clear that he needed special attention. Dexter has had surgery to resect his palate, and his stress/separation anxiety is helped by the fact he gets to go to work with his "roomie" who is the Executive Director of Al-Van Humane Society in South Haven, Michigan.
