Moose was born in Tenessee where he was neglected and left to starve with his littermates before moving to a local kill shelter. He was found by a New York City based rescue group and moved to their shelter at 9 weeks old, then brought to the annual Adopt-a-palooza event in Union Square in hopes of adoption. His siblings were quickly rescued and Moose remained alone in a crate. He soon lost hope as he watched his friends and family find forever homes. Late in the day, a young couple was walking around the event visiting the dogs but had no intention of adopting that day. As they were leaving, the young man noticed a puppy out of the corner of his eye. Without consulting his girlfriend, he approached the adoption group about an application. He was told that the applications were closed but persisted to explain why he would be the best parent for this dog until reluctantly they let him apply. Over two hours went by when the couple was notified that they were approved to take home the puppy! Moose and his parents adapted quickly and one year later he is a happy, healthy pup and the king of his neighborhood dog park!
